Assign Motor IDs
Select the robot model and program all 25 motors one at a time before assembly.
Each motor has a numbered sticker that identifies its joint. Assign every ID before installing the motors.
Select the Robot Model
Open Robot Setup. The page should show Firmware is stopped - the CAN buses are free for setup. If it says Robot setup is locked, stop the firmware from Overview first.
In panel 1 - Robot Model:
- Select
asimov_1_biped. - Select Apply profile.
- Confirm the change.
The motor panels unlock after the model is applied.
Enable ID Assignment
In panel 2 - Assign motor IDs, select Enable ID assignment, read the warning, then select I understand - enable.
Connect exactly one motor
Only one motor may be connected during detection and programming. With two or more connected, the robot cannot identify which motor to program.
Program All 25 Motors
For each motor:
- Connect the motor to the RPU port labeled
LL, as shown in the dashboard. - Select Detect and confirm its current ID appears.
- Read the number on the motor's sticker.
- Enter that number, from 1 through 25, in Target ID (sticker).
- Select Set & verify and confirm the same ID is read back.
- Disconnect the motor, keep it in ID order, and connect the next one.
Do not continue until all 25 unique sticker IDs have been set and verified.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Check |
|---|---|
| Detect finds nothing | Confirm one motor is connected, check its power and CAN cable, wait one second, and retry |
| Set & verify fails | Keep the motor stationary, confirm it is not reporting an alarm, and retry |
| Controls are disabled | Apply the robot model, stop firmware, and enable ID assignment |
| Sticker ID is duplicated or missing | Stop and resolve the labeling issue before assembly |
Continue with Assembly
Power down the boards and motors. Assemble each motor in the joint matching its sticker number. Return to Verification after the robot is fully assembled and wired; the validated procedure is currently TBC.
